Learn to design and optimize photovoltaic systems.Your prior academic degree and your individual qualifications determine the length of your studies. They receive an in‐depth understanding of all processes within the production chain, including their interaction and technical/economical implications and expected future developments.
Qualified personnel are of prime importance for research, development, and production in the promising field of photovoltaics (which is concerned with the direct conversion of sunlight into electric energy). The program is coordinated by the Center for Renewable Energy in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems.

Der Master Online Photovoltaics ist wegen der Kombination von flexiblem Online-Lernen und tiefgehender technologischen Ausrichtung weltweit einzigartig. In über 20 Vorlesungen, Seminaren und Praktika vermittelt der akkreditierte Studiengang eine Ausbildung im Bereich der Physik, der Technologie, der Systemtechnik und der betriebswirtschaftlichen Grundlagen der Photovoltaik.
Der Studiengang bringt die von einem Master of Science erwartete theoretisch-wissenschaftliche Tiefe in einzigartiger Weise mit Praxisnähe und Industrierelevanz zusammen. Gewähr dafür bieten renommierte Dozenten des Fraunhofer ISE sowie Wissenschaftler der Uni Freiburg. Ein wesentlicher Teil der praktischen Ausbildung der Studierenden erfolgt in Labors des Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg.

ENGLISH INFORMATION on blended learning
Blended learning combines traditional distance learning with online meetings and campus phases. Students spend most of their time studying online from any place in the world. Downloaded scripts and e-lectures provide them with the freedom to use free time slots.
The free study phases are supplemented by online meetings, where students can pose questions, discuss problems and get in contact with the teaching staff. Online meetings in the Master Online Photovoltaics are limited to one meeting per week so that students do not have an overwhelming amount of fixed appointments in their schedules.
During the so-called campus phases, where the students gather for several days in Freiburg and experience personal contact with teachers and fellow students, hands-on training, seminars and socializing events. In some of the campus phases, workshops with invited speakers from science and industry will bring you deeper into the photovoltaics community.
